Activist Bill McKibben on Why Tar Sands Pipeline Is 'Game Over' for the Climate
For a fourth straight day outside the White House, environmentalists were arrested for peacefully protesting a pipeline that would carry acidic crude oil from Western Canada to the Texas Gulf Coast. Environmentalist and author Bill McKibben, who spent the weekend with fellow demonstrators in a Washington jail, discusses the the success of the protest and the shortcomings of Obama's environmental policy with Keith.
McKibben echoes the warning from NASA's Jim Hansen that if the Tar Sands project goes forward it will be "essentially game over for the climate."

Show AllThe "game" was over the moment a marketing schema rode rough shod over the reality of Obama's voting record in the U.S. Senate, and voters subsequently bought into "hope and change" as the clarion call for authentic transformation thinking they were voting for a populist; instead they got the classic inside the beltway "yes" man. Hardly bodes well for Mother Earth.
Yeah, the Tea Party nut cases know all about that...
And what if you are wrong ....
Glad to hear McKibbin make mention of the battle to stop the same insanity of making the Amazon an industrial site. Monday Aug 22 was an international day of action again the illegal precedent of the Belo Monte hydroelectric (first of some 400 planned dams!!)

Just because it is not seen on mainstream media does not mean it is not happening. People united will never be defeated. The legitimacy of "national" interests is already shattered by globalization. This is our planet. ....
Already game over - was game over once many major corporations started making plans on how to profit from global warming.
Obama is a corporatist and he will approve the pipeline. Those like McKibben are in denial. "O" is the enemy of people. Civil disobedience is inadequate to effect change in a positive direction. It will require blood.
And what will the blood prove? There are more ways to skin a cat, sorry no disrespect meant to cats.
They aren't "tar sands", they are"oil sands"! Don't you believe what ll those earnest and sincere oil and gas spokespersons say on TV? (And our subsurface and surface water is perfectly safe from fracking.)
If it looks like bullshit, sounds like bullshit and smells like bullshit - then it must lilacs and roses.
