Thing is, you travel all over China in a van with a group of people, and everywhere the guides are handing out crated loads of bottled water to everyone.
Convenience.
I suppose they could have a squad of people filling tons of plastic bottles from the tap.
I once worked at a major distillery, and one day it was time to make their canned, premixed cocktails in huge vats. Some alcohol, bags of fruity powder that looked like cement bags, and when it was time to add the water, which was about 90% of the cocktail, I was expecting some 'special' water, but no.
They used water from the same hoses that were used to wash the distillery floors.
And the waste went directly into San Francisco Bay.

Last fall, I was doing some research at the NYU library here in NYC, and I asked the woman at the counter where I might find a water fountain. She proceeded to tell me that the water at NYU was bad, and they didn't have a water fountain. Then, she told me that I could go downstairs and purchase a bottle of water from a vending machine. I told her that I don't buy water in plastic bottles, it's bad for the environment, and I also told her that, according to research, NYC water is quite good, asking the question, "Why does NYU have tainted drinking water?" She had no answer for me. When I finished at the library, I walked a few blocks to Barnes & Noble and used their drinking fountain.

That was superb! It is nice to see a green message put out in a slick (dare one say sexy) way.

I watched and listened.......Yes, I was impressed with the information.....Too bad the American People buy into "The Manipulation and Control of Fear!"
Mass Media will make sure that the American People lack the information needed to make good decisions.
Nice Work !

Personal health trumps environmental health for me.
Fluoride (as Hexafluorosilic acid) is in over 70% of the tap water in the USA and is much more dangerous than arsenic. Natural sodium fluoride in very small doses might not cause too much damage but the toxic waste they add to the tap-water definitely does.
It causes Alzheimer's because it allows aluminum to breach the blood/brain barrier. It also overloads your thyroid - and causes hypothyroidism, lethargy, chronic fatigue, bone fractures and cancer. See...

Reverse Osmosis gets only 90% of it out.
SO if you want people like me to completely stop drinking imported spring water from bottles... stop letting the US government poison the tap-water in the first place.

This is a nice form of spreading awareness... BUT... I think people fail to comprehend the whole economic system, even Annie Leonard.
If we start purchasing less and lesser stuff the whole economic system will collapse even faster. Bummer! The whole monetary system (capitalism) is build upon cyclical consumption. The current economical system requires...
Scarcity of resources (Maximize profit in shorter time), inefficiency and unsustainable products are the building-block of our current economical system.
Nobody seams to get this and comprehend the deep impact it has on society and the environment. The monetary system is artificial and has no real world references!
Water-bottles aren't the only problem we have... Whatever you try to stop will fail because of the economical structure itself.
Imagen if we realize that all humans are one and war is really consider sickness and the biggest crime of all. And, We decided to abolish war for that what it is really. What will happen to the economy? Or, doctors would really find cures rather treatments to control sicknesses. What would happen to the economy? Should I continue to pained the bigger picture here...?

Good video, but it doesn't suggest the home water filters can improve the taste AND quality of tap water. There is NO WAY water departments can insure the quality of the water when they only test for a handful of contaminants, nor can they insure the quality as it travels through aging and crumbling distribution lines on the way to your home! I think there many bottled water drinkers that DO have valid concerns over safety and taste, and it is short-sighted to simply suggest going back to tap water!
And for the guy concerned about fluoride, there is filtering media called activated alumina that can effectively remove fluoride. Just do a Google search of "fluoride water filters".
