Howard Zinn (1922–2010): A Tribute to the Legendary Historian with Noam Chomsky, Alice Walker, Naomi Klein and Anthony Arnove
We pay tribute to the late historian, writer and activist Howard Zinn who died suddenly on Wednesday of a heart attack at the age of 87. Howard Zinn’s classic work A People’s History of the United States changed the way we look at history in America. It has sold over a million copies and was recently made into a television special called “The People Speak.” We remember Howard Zinn in his won words and we speak with those who knew him best: Noam Chomsky, Alice Walker, Naomi Klein and Anthony Arnove.

Show All"Every war is a war against children."
How true.
Just to keep emphasizing the core of Zinn's efforts:
Naomi Klein says here about Zinn's work:
"It was about telling people to believe in themselves, and their power to change the world.... Don't believe in Great Men. Believe in yourself."
Empowered by Howard - we are many
A true loss for the US. We need more educators like him- those that tell the truth.
If we had more Howard Zinns perhaps our nation might be able to survive. If things keep moving unchecked on their current trajectory survivability will soon be impossible.

The peace symbol I wore in 1971-"War is not healthy for children and other living things". Thanks Howard. I became a a CO in 1971.
"Peoples History of the United States"tells us those facets of "history" glossed over by most so called"historians" and political commentators who shape public opinion. It takes unwavering courage to tell the "Truth".We witnessed what high office, once attained, can do to change a person, even a president. How the campaign promises sound so hollow in the light of the
"state of the nation" broadcast yesterday. No different from any other "War Presidents" before him.
So much for the Nobel Peace award!!!
