Media As Establishment
Joe Lieberman hijacked news coverage for a while this week, but it was
Howard Dean's defense of real health care reform that inspired White
House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs to a snarling personal response. Ben
Bernanke was anointed Time's Person of the Year despite a hold on his
renomination and a bill passing the house to audit the Federal Reserve.
Is the Establishment closing ranks around its own? John Nichols,
Washington correspondent for The Nation and co-author of the upcoming The Death and Life of American Journalism, thinks so. Karen Fragala Smith of Newsweek and Peter Hart of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting also join us to discuss this week in news.

Show AllIn order to get REAL news I have to go to common dreams and other such internet sites plus progressive journals to supplement mainstream newspapers.
Thanks to Bill Clinton's 1996 media consolidation legislation, "news" comes from the same outfits that sell us bogus insurance, give us toxic food, monopolize medicene and pollute the environment.
And don't forget all the "neutral" former military people, usually men, hired as "expert commentators" on all our wars by the TV networks. We're never told which ones now work in the war industry, while any anti-war points of view are so rarely allowed as to be virtually non-existent.
And then, their are the 200 members of the Mass Media that belong to The Council on Foreign Relations and believe that the American People can not be trusted to choose their leaders.......Obama has a packed administration loaded with Council on Foreign Relations Members, Tri-Lateral Commission Members and Members of "Think Tanks" that are all interconnected and believe that "They have the right to accumulate "Obscene" wealth even if it comes off the back of the American Taxpayer.
You are just beginning to see the evolution of "The New World Order"...The Media has been going along with that plan and has known of that plan as it was presented at Bilderberg Group Meetings every year since 1954....Donald Rumsfeld at the 2002 Meeting was forced to delay his invasion of Iraq by the Bilderberg Group because they needed time to get their investments, and company purchases done.
