Thank you Amy. My children and grandchildren thank you for this intelligent coverage of the life and death matter of the health of the earth.
Yesterday I saw DeBoer's comments on your show. The remarks I saw were fact-free and free of specific proposals. The language was careful to imply the need for free market "development" of the "underdeveloped world". It was educational about the ways in which corporate enablers can smother passion with pap. The emphasis is on getting something done. That, as we have seen in the health debate, can be code for passing something that has little or no useful content for the populace but much opportunity for the corporations.
By showing us a variety of voices who describe the actualities with understanding and a sense of urgency, you help us to arm ourselves against Panglossian liberal media spin that lionizes empty talk and feeble efforts. Vigorous action is required. It needs to be led by the countries with resources and money. We created much of the problem, and have the resources and money to solve them.
We need to develop solar and wind energy sources, promote local organic food agriculture and fish production. We must stop the tragic acidification of the oceans by cutting way down on carbon emissions. We need to provide help to people who live in low lying areas (including our Gulf Coast), people whose water supplies are disappearing or being salinated, and people whose food supplies will be further cut by drought and lack of water. That may soon include us as the midwest water table gets used up.

Unfotunately can't view the video; the embedded player is not showing up in this CD page and the same applies at livestream.com. Perhaps the problem is a Firefox add-on that's installed, but I can't guess which one would be at fault; or maybe the video's not yet working for current versions of FF. However, I also am not seeing embedded players for videos from DN!, as of lately; while I used to get these with one or two FF versions further back from the current one. Something's causing the problem, but what?
Anyway, I just checked the DN! site and there are several other videos specifically related to the Copenhagen summit on climate change or global warming. One is for the representative from Bolivia, while another is for a Peruvian and regarding the rainforests. The other videos are for a discussion group, a Maldivian calling for action, and maybe some others, still. FYI.
