ACLU has just announced Congress is investigating CIA lies to them about torture.
We'll see.
"Who fights dragons too long becomes one"----Nietzsche
Remember how self righteous this country used to be when talking about Soviet gulags?
Remember how self congratulatory this country used to be about Habeas Corpus, civil rights, the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, cruel and unusual punishment, The right to a fair and speedy trial by a jury of our peers...
All gone, and nobody in any big hurry to bring any of those things back.
Well said.
According to plenty of reports, this torture practice hasn't stopped since Obama's inauguration. Maybe some of the torture techniques have stopped, but from what I've gathered, the Obama administration is basically as guilty as the Bush one was with regards to this subject; as well as war of aggression.
A "moral stain" on the U.S., the interviewee says in the video about all of this torture, and if I understood correctly, then he said it's unlikely that anyone would be prosecuted for these crimes.
ff this is a "moral stain" for the U.S., then what are the wars of aggression? I hope they're far more than only moral stains. And if no one is going to be prosecuted for these crimes of torture, then I guess we can be certain that no one will ever be indicted and prosecuted for the supreme international crimes that these wars are, either.
This is not looking good at all. Neither indict and prosecute for the supreme crimes that these wars are, nor stop them; this definitely does not leave much hope for the future.
The program was not to get information, but to cover it up.
