US Ammunition Blamed for Iraqi Cancer Hike
Doctors in Iraq are recording a shocking rise in the number of cancer victims south of Baghdad. Sufferers in the province of Babil have risen by almost tenfold in just three years.
Locals blame depleted uranium from US military equipment used in the 2003 invasion. But the link has been difficult to prove, prompting them to demand an investigation.
In this part of Iraq 500 cases of cancer were diagnosed in 2004. That figure rose to almost 1,000 two years later.
In 2008, the number of cases increased sevenfold to 7,000 diagnoses. This year, there have so far been more than 9,000 new cases ... and the number is rising.
Al Jazeera's Mosab Jasim reports.

Show AllIt's a short, but still a good report, and I think everyone should view it. We can get an idea from this how EXTREME the genocidal nature of this war is. Prior to the launch of the war, I said that what the U.S. was going to bring to and for Iraq is HELL, and also posted in 2003 that the toll on Iraqis would be very high genocide. We have most recently received a report from or through the Lancet saying the number of "excess deaths" among Iraqis due to this war is over a million, and this was what, two or three years ago; over a year anyway. From this AlJazeera report, we should realise that the number of "excess deaths" is only limited to the number of Iraqis living in Iraq in early 2003, minus the couple of million who got out of Iraq and far enough away from it that the poisoned sands of Iraq won't reach to the new locations of these Iraqis. Like Leuren Moret reported some years ago now, the DU dust would be swept over all or very much of the Middle East. If Iraq is as badly affected as this AlJazeera and other reports indicate, then surrounding or neighbouring countries surely will be poisoned, also.
Leuren Moret also said that the DU dust could easily be swept beyond the Middle East and there were reports for two locations in Europe, I think the furthest one away being in Britain, where within 9 days after the launch of the war, readings of radiological increases jumped and the only explanation that could be found was from the bombings on Iraq.
Shoot, the use or massive use of DU, alone, makes it a world war.
Perhaps all those returning from the middle east could bring back some samples of the ammunition spent or otherwise and deposit in places frequented by the makers ie; golf courses and other leisure spots. Perhaps after a considerable rise in cancer in those places, there might be a serious investigation.
Its ok, we already have enough sources in this country...
As Gomer Pyle would say "suprise, surprise, surprise."
