Show AllNice work & thank you, Ms. Maddow.
I saw her previous article about ACORN in which she explained the right-wing demand for Gov't defunding of ACORN for alleged misconduct and compared that to ongoing contracts with habitually felonious corporations like KBR, Blackwater, and other pets of the MIC.
I knew nothing about ACORN until the fascists started after them. So I looked it up and found they (and SEIU) have an outstanding track record in pursuit of the concerns of real (human) citizens.
Adding to that the fact that they apparently terrify the shills at clusterFOX and the corporate sluts in congress...and these folks have my support.
A short note for those who are inclined to be a 'realistic'
and 'rational' observer of the lunacy that the USA is and seems to be proud of.
The story of the 'assault on ACORN' is one that reminds me of the story of the "Lion Tamer" that disappeared one day, and then was 're found' ---well, some of him was 're found', small fragments of him were discovered in the 'feces' of the "lion" that had eaten him.
He had overestimated his own 'abilities' or 'underestimated' the 'Lions' abilities, and one too many mistakes lead him to have what most people would agree as a 'shitty outlook'.
After the recent 'revelations' of the ACORN employees 'offering advice' on operating an illegal enterprise, and how to cheat the IRS etc. I saw a brief (thankfully) interview with the CEO of ACORN and this revealed to me the source of the problem. The CEO was as inarticulate as the two 'morons' who were offering advice to the 'Pimp and Whore'. If the leadership of the organization had fallen into the hands of the seemingly inarticulate and inept manager that I saw--- then ACORN deserves just about all that they are getting.
The conservative element is ruled by incompetent and inarticulate unskilled and obviously corrupt participants.
Lets face it, to be a 'conservative' you are required to 'dumb yourself down' --some are actually born to it. This makes them weak and unable to compete on a level playing ground, so they need to 'play dirty' in order to win. They are always on the 'lookout' for the same in their opponents in order to bring them down to their own level. ACORN simply gave them the ammunition to use against them, and no one but them can be held accountable for their own incompetence.
ACORN just 'got caught' and if one considered how 'slow and dull and unintelligent' the 'conservative element' actually is; how dumb do you have to be to let them 'get the upper hand'? Now ACORN has been 'de-funded' and if the CD readers examine the evidence, ACORN, just became 'lion shit', and they can blame no one but themselves.
If they can learn from the lesson, they will be stronger in the future; if not, then they can be a lesson for those who do learn from the lessons of others.
If nothing else ACORN will be remembered as an 'negative example'.
In my 'tribe' we say, "if you know what NOT do do, you've got half of it learned"
Many thanks to Rachel Maddow for covering the ACORN story!
In 2003, or 2004, I attended a conference centered on Democracy here in NYC -- I think it was sponsored by DEMOS. Bertha Lewis, who headed up ACORN, spoke at that conference, and I was quite inspired by her. I don't think she is inarticulate. In fact, here's the link to a very recent interview on Democracy Now!, with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzales -- September 17, 2009:

Clearly, the M$M and others, are not reporting the whole story! Miss Maddow is asking -- Who will be next? And, of course, as she reported, the right-wing is already targeting the SEIU. Then, who?
Rachel did a nice job of exposition. Unfortunately, she then neglected to ask her guest - the author of a book detailing facts about ACORN that the media has gotten wrong - to talk about those facts.
He just wrote a book on the subject. What ARE the facts about ACORN that the media has gotten wrong? She never asked this most fundamental question, which underpins everything else. Yikes, what a missed opportunity!!!
