Show AllIt is high time for Americans to figure out a way to establish a citizen owned-and-operated health insurance company.....just like they do credit unions ! ! ! I am sick of BEGGING OUR GOVERNMENT TO DO THE RIGHT THING ! ! ! The Board of Directors could consist of people who are absolutely trustworthy....Bill Moyers-types!!! We would all share the cost and have full coverage for basic healthcare.
Let's start a dialogue on this....IT IS POSSIBLE ! ! ! !
We don't need to keep wrestling with the LUNATIC FRINGE IN BOTH PARTIES ! ! !
And, Rachel, I LOVE YOU ! ! !
Don't the insurance companies already kill old people (and even young people) by denying them necessary medical procedures because the procedure would cost to much for their GREEDY bottom line?
Republicans have yet to offer ANY solutions.
There is too much wrong-wing stupidity out there.
It's way more than the 18,000 that Bernie Sanders talks about who die every year because they couldn't get to a doctor in time to save their lives. There are too many people who die every year because they didn't have the ability to get to a doctor on a regular basis to catch the onset of the disease that eventually kills them.
THE LEWIN GROUP, a research group, ostensibly completely independent of any influence from corporate influence, is continually cited to bolster the lies of the insurance industry, is OWNED by insurance companies.
The next time you hear a (usually Republican) congressperson site the Lewin group to back up his lies just think "BULLSHIT".
First of all where is this "table"? Trying Bush Co for war crimes is off of the table. Impeaching certified war criminal and traitor Bush is off the table. Now single payer, the best solution, is off the table. Maybe you need another table?
Here is Canada (da dah!) the government does not tell us what to eat and drink. Bike helmets are required though - why should I (the state) pay for your eggshell skull's repair because you like to look cool?
So that's the extent of it. I can live free of the worry that unexpected medical issues will destroy my family financially, but I have to wear a helmet when I ride my bike.
By the way, I'm sending a cheque to CD today. I encourage all readers to do so. This site is a ray of light.
So, MSNBC --a.k.a. NBC --a.k.a. General Electric --a.k.a. warmonging armament manufacturer, killer of millions of people for profit, providing a debate on "healthcare", on CD.
Interesting.
The consistent theme echoed by multiple right-wing sources indicates this is a GOP "talking points" theme. It's truly devious to stir up anxiety among old people -- who for 40 years have been more economically secure and medically cared for by government-funded healthcare.
I have an idea, a rallying cry, for the rest of us who work for a living and want a public option:
You say no public option? Then let's be consistent: Let's put an end to government-funded Medicare -- right now -- for all US senior citizens.
If government-supported health care is such an awful idea, why doesn't "America's Greatest Generation" give up their right to Medicare and pay for all medical expenses on their own?
The tactics of the GOP as dictated by the "Health" insurance & Drug industries is strictly about maintaining their monopoly over medical care. After all, there is a lot of money to be lost if the USA adopts the health care model of most every other First world nation. These douche bags deserve a special place of suffering in Tartarus (Greek myth is much at punishment than Judeo-Christian myth).
If only Jack Tripper had health coverage for all the times he flipped over the sofa.
Bernie Sanders actually gets it. One of the very few in Congress that does.
I hope those Congress people who are now claiming health care reform is a secret plan for the government to kill people will read this excerpt from Chris Hayes' article in CD today. This will tell them all they need to know about who is killing people already:
I am 36 years old and have Blue Shield HMO health insurance coverage through my employer. In January 2009, I was diagnosed with metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer.... My doctors prescribed a medication that targets and removes the cancer throughout the body like a "smart bomb"; however Blue Shield of California denied coverage of my doctors' recommended treatment. Blue Shield also denied a radiation procedure that would target and remove the two lesions in my brain. In both cases, Blue Shield denied the original requests and subsequent appeals I filed on the grounds that the treatments are not a medical necessity. I have learned that insurance companies will use "medical necessity" as an excuse to not cover treatment when it appears that the patient is "too sick" (read: not worth it).
The best system is Frances, where you have the option of purchasing supplemental private insurance for things the gov't plan doesn't cover ahead of time.
What I'm saying is that a gov't plan will likely identify the things it won't cover ahead of time, while many private plans 'sell' themselves as the 'thing you want to buy', and when you actually get sick they bring out the fine print showing why what you purchased went toward their profit margins rather than your treatment.
.
What possibility?
If a gov't administered plan starts killing old people as a policy, there will be HUGE discussion about it. WE are the gov't. The problem with private plans is that it actually pays them to trick you into purchasing their plan and then tell you later that it doesn't cover your illness. There's no reason for a gov't plan to not be above-board.
awesome video.
