One would have hoped the very idea of privatizing our nation's money in the hands of profiteering banks would have been cause enough for concern a century ago. The debate over the employment of a privatized central banking system in the US had been waged before, and the arguments were likely better understood then than even now.
One would have hoped the passage of both the Federal Reserve Act and the Income Tax amendment in 1913 would have raised enough eyebrows as to have justified contemplation and debate over the debt and bailout system thus being enabled. Of course such concerns were probably viewed as the stuff of conspiracy and fear-mongering. I can just hear some O'Reilly type presumptuously saying "that's just dumb."
One would have simply hoped the nature of this private for-profit beast would have become evident before now.
One would now hope it could be understood, that if you're going to give control of the nation's monetary system to a private for-profit corporation, it would be just as easy and more equitable to give that control to a publicly owned institution acting under the authority of Amendment X.
And finally one would hope, now more than ever, for understanding of how folding the Fed back into the Treasury or otherwise mitigating the private for-profit banking system through Congressional controls still leaves the fox guarding the henhouse.
A nation's money and a nation's wealth, and the fruits thereof, belong to the citizens of the nation - as a whole - and not to the government of the nation nor the private corporations, which may in fact be owned or unduly influenced by foreign or other special interests. Period.

women's rights would be gone. he's much like the other extremist right wing nut jobs he just didn't get the chance to articulate
his views because of the one party nature of the one party
presidental election scam presently on display in america today. before you all start screaming for ice cream know whats in
that ice cream! he wants less government less controls and
oversight. see how fast things would devolve even from their
present woeful state? if you think your screwed now think about

Excuse me - Before you start to Bash Ron Paul, maybe you should learn about Liberty and Freedom! Your Democrats like to create Laws that give rights to certain groups and take away from others. Ron Paul on the Other hand is about small government - which means less laws on the books and more personal freedoms for individuals. The Federal government is not here to tell people what to do or not to do - Constitutionally the only purpose of the federal government is to PROTECT the Rights of the Citizens of the United States of America. Unlike your Centralized Power Grabbing Democrats that want a Nanny State to Take care of the people from the Sperm to the Worm (birth to death for those of you without an imagination) Ron Paul and his Libertarian views are to give individual Liberties back to the People. Remember, this is Supposed to be a REPUBLIC, not a democracy.
What are Ron Pauls "other" policies you are so worried about?
The FACT that he wants to END Imperialization - Unlike YOUR Democratic President Obama who wants to police the World.
Ron Paul wants to Audit then END the (not-So-Federal) Federal Reserve!
Ron Paul also wants to END the Illegal Income Taxes - Which is Used to Finance the Empirical War Machine this country has grown into.
Ron Paul wants to have a Sound Money System, ie, not a Debt Based Print Monopoly Money Out-Of-Thin-Air System like we have now.
Ron Paul wants to defend the RIGHT as stated in Our Constitution for ALL Americans to Keep and Bear Arms and to Protect themselves from a Tyrannical Government, such as the one we have under this Duopoly.
Enlighten us please, what about the democrats do you like? The FISA bill (which allows the Gov to spy on us)
The Patriot Act - the Civil Liberties stealing Bill that the Democrats co approved with Bush.
The Anti Free Speech Bill aka (the deceptively titled) Hate Crimes Bill that Obama and the Democrats passed...
So...enlighten us you hard core Democrat - Obama freak
Maybe you NEED to Read the Constitution and Bill of Rights and see that Ron Paul is the Champion of The Constitution

On the right wing 'small government' usually means less democratic control. It has never had a thing to do with restriction of government power to intrude on the individual liberty without regard to social-economic status. It has everything to do with restricting government power to protect individuals without wealth from those with it. It has everything to do with making sure that money allows one to be more 'equal' than someone else. It means protecting wealth from legal accountability and punitive damages for abuses of persons, civil rights, and property of those with less economic leverage. The old saying 'in a democracy the only thing you can't be is the king' is met with a wry smile by people with money and aspirations that might be held in check by a balance of personal and social responsibility expected of someone in a democracy. Equal access to law and constitutional rights regardless of race, religion, or economic status? That is a cruel joke in this country already. Small government means that money is and always will be political power. It means that money will always be considered 'free speech'. The smallest and most efficient governments are always corporatist dictatorships. Property becomes a 'Person', and real people become first seen as cattle, and finally firewood.

This isn't about the left/right paradigm - Small government means individual Liberties
Centralized Government is more dictatorial. Look at Nazi germany for example, that is a centralized government.
Our "democracy" is beginning to look more and more like a Nazi germany Centralized Government, ie Police State.
The BIGGER the Government, the More restrictions on INDIVIDUALS.
We Need to LIMIT the POWER and SIZE of the Central Government.
If you are going to Restrict anything, you MUST restrict the SIZE and POWER of the Government,
Not the Individuals Liberties.
That is called Tyranny when you begin to do that.
Centralized Power, like the "federal" reserve is what gets us into the mess that we are in.
If the central government had less power they would not be able to go around the world bullying other nations.
I realize you THINK all these rules are here to HELP people, like this so called hate crime bill, but when you begin to look a little deeper you will realize all these laws meant to help certain groups really end up strangling all the groups.
We NEED more INDIVIDUAL Liberties and Freedoms and LESS Government Regulations on the People of this Nation.
We also NEED to STOP Dividing Ourselves, Making classes by saying Left and Right and start becoming One America
A FREE America for ALL its Citizens.
The Left/Right thing is a Joke, A lie, it is a Class Division, A Way to Keep us Divided, the same way they tell you Democrats and Republicans are so Different, But in Reality they Are NOT so Different - That is Why Democratic Obama is Carrying out many of Republican BUSH policies, expanding the WARs, etc etc etc

That back lit statue crowning the FED building is an idol to the god of mammon, like something out of a Ayn Rand dream.
The big boys don't usually let such blatant images out of their black hearts to see the light of day.
They are shouting in our ears and we can't hear: "The abstract concept of money is the only concrete reality."
Hell, most of us even believe it.
It is a lie and like all lies it carries the seeds of its own destruction

Small government in a large population would mean feudalistic monopolistic companies with their own armies and slave laborers. That be like the late 1880’s with the Pinkerton armies of the big companies killing any workers who demonstrated for their rights. Deregulating business is what got us into this Wall Street Bank mess. The idea of deregulating business and having a tiny government is equivalent to the stupidity of Communism, just as the workers will not work for the good of society without reward company tycoons will not generally work for the collective good but rather for harming society as much as they can get away with to benefit themselves and their own family. Get real! We need to get back to the non-profit model of health care institutions like we had in the 50’s and early 60’s, have credit unions instead of banks, make medium and large companies give a discount to the workers who buy up company stock. We can do a lot to become a more cooperative society instead of this monstrous dog eat dog society the USA has become. We can do some but not all of this in a decentralized way of non-profits and city utilities but some things need to be done by a central government, such as the government being the main insurance company cutting out the outrageous insurance and HMO profits. Big Business needs careful watching by government, it is always a threat to democracy. We do not have a democracy now, we have corporatocracy.
