Vietnam War Architect Robert McNamara Dies at 93: A Look at His Legacy With Howard Zinn, Marilyn Young & Jonathan Schell
Former Defense Secretary Robert McNamara has died at the age of 93. McNamara was one of the key architects of the Vietnam war, which killed at least three million Vietnamese, around one million Cambodians and Laotians, and 58,000 American soldiers. We take a look at McNamara's legacy with two pre-eminent historians: Howard Zinn and Marilyn Young. We also speak with Jonathan Schell, who covered Vietnam as a reporter in 1967 and met with McNamara in a secret Pentagon meeting.

Show AllI wonder if, in his last moments, he cried out twice in a voice that was barely above a whisper..."The horror, The horror"
...Naaa, never could have happened.
Mr. Zinn's point about the 'people' protesting the actions of their government being the true 'delivery system' of 'democracy' is most correct.
People in powerful positions have always abused those in the control with that power. The only deterrent that is effective, is the knowledge that one cannot escape responsibility for their actions.
In the case of the latest 'war crimes' committed by the US Government, the people who 'protest the wars' might consider prosecuting the offenders of the former as well as the present government, who have committed international crimes, as well as violations of several treaties which is treason.
It would not be an easily accomplished endeavor, but it would go a very long way to show the world that the 'American People' are a 'law abiding people' as they so often and publicly claim.
To allow these latest 'war criminals' to escape justice, will open the path for others in the future to do the same or even worse.
The USA and its allies sat in judgement on German and Japanese 'war criminals' who committed the very same crimes that the USA committed in all of the wars they have been involved in since WWII----------because they were the winners.
If the American People allow these latest war criminals to escape the justice that they demand of others---they will have little hope of survival as a 'nation'.
How much longer the world is willing to tolerate the USA---is a matter the world may soon take up with the USA.
Good Luck America, you really need it.
