"We are wrapping up Women's History Month by acknowledging companies that
have joined our campaign for workplace equality -- and by launching an historic
new project," said NOW President Patricia Ireland. Ireland will announce
NOW's new Fortune 500 Project at a briefing to be held in Washington, DC at
10:30 AM on March 31, 1999.
The Fortune 500 Project is the latest addition to NOW's Women-Friendly
Workplace Campaign which uses consumer education and public pressure to
encourage companies to provide fair working conditions. NOW's campaign has made
substantial progress at Smith Barney and Mitsubishi Motors, two of its previous
targets.
