"The Senate Republican majority has put the Party before the people by dragging out an impeachment process that the nation solidly opposes and that everyone knows they can't win.

"The House and Senate Republican leaders have lost their case, and everyone but them seems to know that. The people know the facts and, although they disapprove of what the President did, they see it as a personal matter that does not warrant removing him from office. The people have made their judgment and they want the partisan circus ended.

"Even moderate Republicans who are troubled about pursuing a course so at odds with the will of the people have been forced to march in lockstep with the right-wing dominated leadership.

"The leadership of Congress is taking the nation down a road that will increase the people's frustration and anger and widen the gulf between the people and their government. Ironically, the Republicans' efforts to save face with their right wing could lose them the faith of the vast majority of the American people."
