Green Scissors Report To Uncover 72 Wasteful Federal Spending Programs That Harm The Environment; Taxpayers and Environmentalist Unite to Cut Billions in Government Spending
 
WASHINGTON - January 27 - Touting the "winwin" strategy of cutting wasteful government spending that harms the environment, a coalition of taxpayer, environmental and consumer advocates will release the annual Green Scissors report January 28, 1999.

In its fifth year, the national campaign, led by Friends of the Earth, Taxpayers for Common Sense and the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, will recommend cutting 72 federal programs that would save taxpayers billions of dollars. The Green Scissors ‘99 report targets energy, agricultural, water, public land, and transportation spending programs throughout the United States.
