| Democrats Oppose President Clinton's Plan To Raise Military Spending | ||||
| WASHINGTON
- January 20 - On Thursday, January 21, a coalition of House Democratic members and
advocacy organizations will hold a press conference to express strong opposition to President Clinton's proposal to increase defense spending by
$110 billion over the next 6 years.
Among the attendees will be Reps. Conyers, DeFazio, McGovern, Nadler, Sanders, and Schakowsky. John Isaacs from the Council for a Livable World and Ralph DeGennaro from Taxpayers for Common Sense will also be speaking. The press conference will take place at 11:00 a.m. in room 2226 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The speakers will focus on why an increase in military expenditures is unnecessary for the nation's security and the damage that it would cause to other important social needs. ###
