Progressive Analysis Available for State of the Union Address
Social Security:
Roger Hickey directs the New Century Alliance for Social
Security, an alliance of leaders of women's, civil rights, labor, disability, senior and youth groups opposed to Social Security
privatization. Hickey's expertise on the politics of the current Social
Security debate will be valuable in analyzing any announcements the
President will make on his plans for Social Security reform. Hickey is
co-director and founder of the Campaign for America's Future and was one of
the founders of the Economic Policy Institute, a Washington think tank that
looks at economics from the point of view of working Americans.
Spending Priorities:
Robert Borosage has extensive experience in
analyzing the politics of the budget with a focus on national budget
priorities. When the President outlines his budget for the next year,
Borosage will have a progressive perspective on proposed defense and domestic spending. Borosage is co-director and founder of
the Campaign
for America's Future and was the founder and director of the Campaign for
New Priorities, a non-profit calling for reinvestment in America in the
post-Cold War era.
