Holding The Gun Industry Responsible: Join A Live On-Line Discussion About The Gun Industry! Live On-Line Discussion on City Litigation Against the Gun Industry

WASHINGTON - January 14 - On October 30, 1998, New Orleans, with the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence as lead co-counsel, became the first city in the nation to sue the gun industry. The City seeks to hold gun manufacturers and dealers responsible for failing to include basic safety features and failing to design and market "personalized" guns.

Shortly thereafter, Chicago filed its own lawsuit against the gun industry, using a different but complimentary legal theory.  Atlanta, Miami, Boston and Los Angeles are among the dozens of cities across the country who are considering following New Orleans' lead.  Talkspot News, an on-line news and discussion website, will take an in-depth look at both sides of the issue THIS FRIDAY, January 15 from 8:00-9:00 p.m. EST.  Guests include Naomi Paiss, Communications Director of Handgun Control and the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence, who will be joining the discussion at 8:30.

To participate in the chat room, log on at http://www.talkspot.com/events/gunsAndViolence ...and let your voice be heard!
