Details: Sally Lilienthal is president and founder of the Ploughshares
Fund, a public foundation that has raised and given away more than $20 million
to projects aimed at preventing nuclear war and building global security. Under
Lilienthal's leadership, the Ploughshares Fund has continually ensured that funding
was available to support cutting-edge initiatives for stopping the spread of weapons
of war. Ploughshares is deeply involved in efforts to abolish nuclear weapons,
ban landmines and implement international controls on the spread of small arms.
Lilienthal is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards
of the Center for International Policy, the University of California Press and
the international advisory board of the University of California's Institute on
Global Conflict and Cooperation. She has received many honors including the Eleanor
Roosevelt's Humanitarian Award by the United Nations Association.
