Sen. Hollings is a true citizen patriot, with a long history of defending our country from foreign and domestic enemies and corporate tyranny. He fought in World War II against the Nazis where his courage earned him a Bronze Star and seven other awards for combat duty. Hollings is a champion of fair trade, not free trade. He has been a Senate leader in fighting to keep American jobs at home and opposing the unrestrained actions of multinational corporations that move jobs overseas in search of cheap wages and lowered environmental standards, leaving our communities in tatters and our balance of trade in deficits. As a senior member of the Commerce Committee, Sen. Hollings has fought for consumers to defend our full access to the courts to hold giant corporations accountable when they manufacture defective products that injure and destroy lives. He opposes federalization of state courts in this crucial area of state personal injury law.
