Planned Parenthood is proud to announce its endorsement of Representative Charles E. Schumer for the U.S. Senate. Chuck Schumer has been a true advocate - a hero - of choice during his 18 years in Congress. Planned Parenthood has recently launched its Responsible Choices Action Agenda - a forward-looking proactive advocacy and service initiative to expand and secure reproductive health and rights into the next century - and Chuck Schumer is the person who will help us get there.

We pledge our support to Chuck Schumer as he takes on a man who uses his position in the Senate to support the most extreme legislative attacks on choice imaginable. Al D'Amato is more committed and beholden to religious and political extremists than he is to the women of New York.

Al D'Amato has consistently voted against legislation that would improve the reproductive lives of millions of women. He voted against expanding Medicaid coverage of abortion services to include rape and incest! He even wants a constitutional amendment to ban all abortions. In fact, Al D'Amato has never met a piece of anti-choice, anti-family planning legislation he doesn't like - Al D'Amato has been too wrong for too long.

Be certain of one thing - the women of New York have more at stake in this election than anyone. By electing Chuck Schumer we can make sure that the right to choice will still be there the morning after the election.

· Chuck Schumer has a 100% pro-choice, pro-family planning voting record. He supports responsible choices and has been a leading advocate of policies that help women and their families stay healthy and safe.

· Chuck Schumer is the author of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act; legislation that has brought incidents of violence and harassment at family planning clinics down 87% since it was enacted in 1994.

· Chuck Schumer supports a woman's right to choose and family planning and educational programs that help prevent the need for abortion. · And Chuck Schumer supports responsible sex education programs the help prevent sexually transmitted infections.

While Al D'Amato is drifting farther and farther from the rest of New Yorkers, Chuck Schumer is fighting for our rights. As Senator, Chuck Schumer will help realize the goals of Planned Parenthood's Responsible Choices Action Agenda:

• Increase services that prevent unintended pregnancies,
• Improve the quality of reproductive health care,
• And ensure access to abortion.
