Earlier today, 11/26/11, CD carried a commentary on Occupy by Linda McQuaig, Toronto Star. This evening, I can't locate it. Will CD again post it? Thanks. Bill in Dubuque

Is FOX censoring YouTube videos? Two separate Occupy Wall Street videos have been removed from YouTube. One was of Occupy Seattle, where videos were hard to come by. At least one was due to FOX claiming copyright, thus ordering YouTube to remove it. I find that claim hard to believe because I think the video was by a citizen using a cell phone. There are plenty of discussions going on with these videos and I think when those discussions go against FOX and the right wing, they may well be removed and thus censored from public view.

After reading that Chicago PD said that "people holding signs are not considered part of the public," which is dumb, because all public things including businesses have signs; I started thinking that with winter upon us, and the problems these courageous protesters will have keeping warm and holding signs up in really bad weather, sweatshirts printed with the signs would be a great way to have their messages showing - sizes large enough to wear over their coats? And if they walked around singing "patriotic" songs that tell how America is about freedom for all, they'd have their messages seen and keep warm too.

All politicians have to spend a lot of time raising money for their re-election campaigns. And as long as they do, those who donate the most want the
most in return.
One of the basic demands of the Occupy movement, when demands emerge, is that the influence peddling and monied interests in Washington has to come to an end. Without that, whatever demands are made for higher taxes to be levied on corporations and for banks to be reigned in will come to naught. Afterall, money speaks, lobbyists speak - in Washington.
1. Federal elections must be publically funded. No more big money donations to campaigns. Severe limits on funds raised by PACS.
2. Strict restrictions must be placed on lobbyists and their influence over the executive and legislative branches of the federal government.
3. Congressional members cannot be allowed to accept any gifts-in-kind from corporations or others who would try and buy their way into
a congress person's good graces.
This is the people's government, not a government of and by the corporations.

I think the move to withdraw or close the account on all Bank Institutions is by far the best strategy of fear this OWS movement have applied against the established order. Now the next step that should be taken is for the OWS and other Occupy movements to begin establishing their own Banks and show the established order how it should be done. First every movement should establish a school, second, an industry(or a shop), third, a market(or a store) all in the forms of a cooperatives, once these are all established, all the Occupy movement can make connections, interact, and trade with one another, thus making the community permanent. Please, do not waste this opportunity.

I was at occupykc today in Penn Valley Park across the street from the new Federal Reserve building complex. There is a lot of energy, and at the march and street corner shout outs we received much good will from passing cars and pedestrians. There have been many donations of food, water etc. There are t shirts for donation with occupykc and we are the 99% on them. There has been a permit issued for a raggae band and a free concert tomorrow afternoon. Everything is upbeat. Communication with occupywallstreet is not as good as it could be, with very little internet access there in the park. There are probably 30 or so permanent campers there with many visiting daily with support. All in all it is a very uplifting experience. It is like there is some sort of dawn maybe in this country. It has been dark for so long. Peace and Love

yes, CD! thank you so much for offering coverage this way, in one concise location... this was needed. you are great, and only getting better! but while i'm at it, might i request that you add a like/dislike button to comments, and also a search function, and at some point, a chatroom? dont get me wrong... I really appreciate everything you've been doing, so much... you have been a hub for the progressive community for a long time. and that is why i feel we should amp it up at this stage... because we've got an amazing movement on our hands that could be the spark of a revolution. we need to organize, convene, discuss... we've got a lot of work to do, and i'm sure you agree! the more forums we have for discussion, the better... and what a dream, to chat with the CD community! right?

margoelena: I agree, EXCEPT a little less talk, chat, discuss, analyze, compare values, etc, and a little more ACTION, supporting, sharing, recruiting is what is in order. We tend to spend way too much time, comparing values, arguing, disagreeing, asserting our individualism. Try some good ole socialist solidarity. After all in the end, we are on the same side; no point in divisive scrutiny of our individual preferences.
Lets go share an OccuPie - http://www.gazette.com/articles/parlor-126207-pizza-happy.html. How would you like your pizza? I'm allergic to pizza so I can't eat it but you can have my slice and I will sit at the table with you anyway.
Peace!

OccupyWallStreet's first public statement of grievances does not mention Monetary Policy or the need to END THE FED.
"OccupyWallStreet's Young People are the tip of the spear in America's awakening. They are demonstrating what is our birth right. We The People must take up our Patriotic Duty and demand the restoration of The Rule of Law, Our Constitutional Democracy, Free Market Capitalism and an honest monetary system. It is the only path to true and lasting change! The protesters energy must be cultivated and the direction focused. Wall Streets crimes and Washington's complicity make them legitimate targets. Many of these sociopaths have to go. They are however, the minions for a larger more evil construct. That is a monetary system that demands constant growth of debt and war. And that criminal enterprise is controlled by the central banks (THE FED) and those behind them." - Inflection Point - http://notionalvalue.blogspot.com/
After delineating a list of grievances they state: *These grievances are not all-inclusive. NOT ALL- INCLUSIVE - - We should think not. The grievances are symptoms of a failed monetary system and the tactics of those behind it who want to control you. The root of the problem is this failed system and Central Banks however, this is not listed as a grievance nor is an action to End The Fed. Failure to eliminate the root of the problem may temporarily alleviate the pain but the disease will persist. - Inflection Point

Occupy is all inclusive. My voice (my viewpoint) and your voice (your viewpoint) are both welcome. That is a good thing. I have been coming to this forum for over a month and often use quotes. I have quoted people, from Gandhi to Leonardo da Vinci -- it is my modus operandi. If a quote resonates with me and fits the topic, I will use it.
With Occupy being all inclusive, there is a wide range of commentary and vastly differing opinions. Everybody is drawn here because of issues they care about and Occupy, again, doesn't bar anybody, not me or you or any one else. They accept that everyone has different views of the world. That is not to say Occupy does not have major themes that we all share concerning the state of things. The three things that are most important to me are 1) ending government/business corruption 2) fixing income inequality 3) basic human rights issues

Some say OWS lacks a cohesive list of demands. I think there is a better way to demonstrate what the movement is about than again addressing the system trusting it will still work to fix itself. The best use of our energy is not in conversation but in action. This is what gives OWS its power, the fact that people are putting their bodies on the line to make change, not waiting for someone else to do for them. I would like to introduce the following into the continuing conversation. We must focus our energy on those parts of the machine that require our participation in them to continue. That is why I support the movement to Move Your Money from the big blood-sucking banks (B of A, Citi, Chase, Wells Fargo, etc.) and into local banks and credit unions. Also, I propose now a #dontfile movement to go out and encourage 5 million or more Americans to not file income tax next year. Income tax is a form of illegal extortion, it is tribute to a private corporation, the Federal Reserve, that has stolen the U.S. government's constitutional mandate to be the only entity to coin money for the use of the people and the general good. The federal Reserve has co-opted that role, sucking interest from us through taxes for the right to use its toilet paper for money. We rent those reserve notes and pay interest through taxes, how do you think those guys got so rich? They get a percentage off of each economic transaction every time money changes hands. The only ones who are exempt from this little circle of pillage is the Upper crust of CEO's, especially in the financial sector for they are the main money movers. We really have to cut them off at the knees. Can you imagine a more peaceful protest than to just not mail that envelope or consult H.R Block, or push that send button? Think about it..... P.S. You people in the world outside of the U.S. are subject to same banker class as us, the same corporate blood-sucking, war-mongering insanity. So what if you deprived the beast of its main food - your energy, your fear, your complacence. Move your money, buy gold and silver, refuse to pay taxes, and don't buy from the companies that are raping you. THAT GOES FOR US ALL!
