Occupy Delaware to Augment Tactics at Sheriff’s Sale: Celebrating Two Months at Spencer Plaza And Planning More Actions
DELAWARE - Occupy Delaware is planning another peaceful occupation of the NCC Sheriffs Sale Tuesday, January 10, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the City/County Building in Wilmington. The group promises new peaceful tactics to emphasize their demands that there be a moratorium on foreclosures until mortgage holding banks are held accountable for their misfeasance and until new strategies, such as principle reductions, are implemented to keep families in their homes. At their December 13 Sheriff’s Sale occupation, the group conducted a “mike check” or “human megaphone,” whereby one member called out a statement in small segments, while the rest repeated the words in unison.
Occupy Delaware will also be marching in front of Bank of America in Greenville on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Occupy Delaware participants are celebrating two full months of occupation at Wilmington’s Spencer Plaza. Participants attribute their success to broad support in the community for their charge that America’s agenda is dominated by the wealthiest one percent and because they have asserted their rights to assemble while accommodating the City in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Those wishing to join Occupy Delaware at the Sheriff’s Sale are asked to meet at Spencer Plaza (800 N. French St. in Wilmington, DE) at 9 a.m.
Occupy Delaware comprises a broad variety of voices. Anyone in Delaware who is fed up with a national agenda that is rigged in favor of the wealthiest one percent at the expense of the other ninety-nine percent is welcome to participate.
