Fracking Chemicals in Wyoming Water Further Illustrate Risks of Controversial Process

Statement of Food & Water Watch Executive Director Wenonah Hauter

WASHINGTON - December 8 - ”The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today confirmed that chemicals likely associated with the process of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) have leaked into ground water in Wyoming. This illustrates the dangers of moving forward with a technology before we know the facts. It is also a huge blow to the oil and gas industry, who continues to insist that fracking is safe. This latest development exacerbates the industry’s existing credibility problem as it tries to sell this risky technology to the American public.”
