Consumers Demand a Strong CFPB

Conference Call - 12 pm ET Today

WASHINGTON

Americans for Financial Reform (AFR) will host a conference call with reporters and bloggers today at 12:00 PM ET to hear first-hand accounts from victims of deceptive financial products and schemes and why efforts to weaken the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are wrong for consumers.

On Wednesday, a House Financial Services subcommittee will mark-up legislation to weaken the CFPB.

WHAT:

Consumers and advocates, through their own stories, will make the case for an effective agency to maintain and police fair rules of the road for consumer finance. Participants include Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) (invited), a former servicemember, a retiree, a single mother, and leaders from consumer groups.
