More than 100 Actions to Protest US Wars and Occupations

Nationwide - March 18 - The Peace Justice and Environment Project (PJEP) announces that over 100 coast to coast events this weekend will mark the 8th anniversary of the Iraq War March 19.   A listing of events follows this message or may be accessed here:  http://pjep.org/features/8th-Anniversary-Actions.

PJEP volunteers along with representatives from the 38 networks and 2 coalitions that comprise PJEP have posted close to one hundred local anti war/ pro peace actions and events that mark the 8th anniversary of the US led invasion of Iraq this week through the use of unique cooperative and collaborative software on PJEP’s 42 network websites for all 50 states.

Events include mass protests in major cities (NY, LA, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, etc), marches and vigils in towns and cities throughout the US,  speak outs, sing a-longs, street theater, candle light observances as well as hundreds more on-going peace vigils which have taken place since the invasion began.  Buses in Baltimore, Charlotte, Philadelphia and elsewhere will provide transportation to the national veterans led demonstrations in Washington DC.

Marcia Bernsten, a volunteer with PJEP and organizer of a 3/18 vigil (Paying for War is Defunding America) in Evanston, IL said, "It's just as important as ever that we show our opposition to war and occupation while the US considers a third war in Libya."

Events shown have been posted on PJEP’s network of networks by volunteers and representatives of its 1500+ organizations. Additional events are courtesy of ANSWER coalition, United for Peace and Justice, Stopthesewars.org and Tuscon Peace Calendar.

A list of Events follows.
Check http://pjep.org/features/8th-Anniversary-Actions for additional events as they are added to our networks.
