Bloated Secret Intelligence Apparatus Poses Grave Civil Liberties Concerns, Says ACLU
Group Responds to Washington Post Story With Call for Greater Oversight
NEW YORK - July 19 - According to the Washington Post today, the U.S. intelligence system, in the years since 9/11, has become so massive and lacking in oversight that it is impossible to know how effective it is. The America Civil Liberties Union has long warned about the civil liberties implications of expanding secret government intelligence programs without oversight.
In 2007, Congress created an independent Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board with some significant powers for overseeing anti-terrorism efforts, but the Obama administration has failed thus far to appoint anybody to that board.
The following can be attributed to Laura W. Murphy, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office:
"At a time when the government should be focusing on creating policies that protect our civil liberties and make us safer, it is alarming that it is instead expanding a secretive system that does neither. We should be focusing our limited resources on national security policies that are proven effective, not throwing money at agencies and policies that provide little more than a band-aid solution.
"It is vital that Congress and the administration act to greatly increase the transparency and oversight of what the Post calls ‘Top Secret America.' Congress and the administration must recognize the importance of solving these problems, rather than presiding over the creation of a permanent, Kafkaesque intelligence establishment that continues to waste money and erode our rights."
The following can be attributed to Jameel Jaffer, Deputy Legal Director of the ACLU:
"The intelligence system that is supposed to protect the nation's security now presents a grave threat to our liberties and our democracy. A sprawling and largely unaccountable complex of government agencies and private corporations now controls a huge amount of information about ordinary Americans, monitors their telephone calls and emails and administers a slew of secret watchlists. The unchecked growth of this intelligence system is endangering the very fabric of American democracy.

Show AllIf your company is awarded a government contract to collect data on terrorists, you going to go on witch hunts and find or create suspects to justify your contract renewals.
Its simple. 800000 people in Washington with high level security clearance and jobs looking for how many terrorists???
Thats just the high level folks, how many to support these folks , millions, fusions centers, community watch, what about the TIPS programs at community levels being trained to follow harass, stalk, and drive people crazy so they create suspects???
You dont think there doing it, trust me , hell ya they are doing it.I know, I have been stalked , followed , tail gated, slandered , and driven almost to the point of crazy,,, three years 24/7, to this very day.
I dont blame the grunts, they have been lied to by people they are supposed to trust , and dont know better.
I wrote a book, I have a web site to share my experience. I am stalked daily by first responders and Citizen Stalkers. The tactic being used is organized gang stalking. If this isn't another COINTELPRO program, I'll eat my hat. What is amazing is that they are getting away with this.
This is what they do:
It could start with being "reported" by a neighbor or firemen who are part of fusion centers. No due process. No chance to be informed of what has been said against you. The U.S. government has legitimized "personal vendettas."
1. The target is put under conspicuous surveillance - by police, firemen, and Stasi-like gang stalkers using red cars, red trucks, or who wear or carry red
2. It starts from the minute the target leaves her/his home - Same Time Exit/Entry is the standard gang stalking tactic - you go out - they are going out
3. They use BEEPING - when you take the dog out - go in your yard - at other times
4. They set off car alarms or have Citizen Stalkers use power equipment (leaf blowers etc.) in their yards, so that the target experiences a wall of NOISE if she tries to take a walk.
5. They have dogs jump out of car windows - let dogs off their leashes, run up at you - use dogs to intimidate
6. They use NOISE to disturb sleep
7. They use GPS to track you
8. Red cars are at intersections - more often in front of you than in back of you
9. They like to park red cars at the end of parking lots where they are noticed
10. A gang stalker in red might be there when you exit a store or a red car or truck will pass just as you exit
11. A gang stalker might be talking on a phone as they pass you by and say your name to the person they are speaking to
12. They use children in gang stalking - even preschoolers, teenagers, old people, handicap people (the Stasi in East Germany also used children)
13. They get neighbors involved in the gang stalking to socially isolate the target and to gang stalk the target when they enter or leave their home, try to take out the garbage, pick up mail.
