Interfaith Worker Justice to Issue Report Exposing Workers' Rights Violations at Ascension Health

IWJ to Join Michigan Nurses, Teamsters and National Nurses United at Press Conference to Announce Report's Findings

DETROIT - July 12 - On Thursday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m., Kim Bobo, Executive Director of Interfaith Worker Justice, will be joined by International Brotherhood of Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa and National Nurses United Co-President Jean Ross, RN, in calling for Ascension Health to address its ongoing labor relations problems in Michigan.   Interfaith Worker Justice will be releasing the report, "A Fall from Grace: Workers' Rights Abuses at Ascension Health's Michigan Operations" which details the results of an investigation conducted by religious leaders this past May.

Interfaith Worker Justice, the nation's largest religious advocacy organization focused on worker's rights, found egregious violations of workers' rights based on interviews with workers and union officials. The report examined ongoing labor relations problems at Ascension's Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, and St. John Macomb-Oakland hospitals in Warren and Madison Heights.
