What if the BP Gusher in the Gulf is Unstoppable?
WASHINGTON - June 17 - Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today made the following statement on the Floor of the House of Representatives about the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico:
“What if the BP gusher in the Gulf is unstoppable?
“This
is the challenging question that is making its way through various
blogs. What if millions of barrels of oil continue to flow
uncontrolled from the hole in the seabed?
“We
should be preparing now for a worst case scenario. We should be
mobilizing our nation now and developing new comprehensive plans for
sustainable, alternative energy, for environmental protection, for
public health, for preservation of species, for security, for
rebuilding our economy and repairing commerce.
“We
should be challenging our fellow citizens and ourselves to take part in
charting a new course for our nation towards creating an America that
has unlimited energy because it has unlimited vision, unclouded by
greed or partisan advantage.”

Show AllHere are three links that are suggesting this might very well be an uncontrollable spew, an extremely alarming development if true. I heard someone from an ocean-loving non-profit NGO on Dylan Ratigan say that the only solution if it's now just a hole with no casing spewing from the sea floor would a low-level nuclear detonation to turn the cracked areas of the sea floor to glass.
Anyway, here are the relevant, and very much worth reading and passing along, links -

At one time I would have expected a great deal more from Dennis Kucinich. The U.S. needs to get used to the idea that we are going to have to start functioning on far, far less energy. That's quite different than "unlimited energy". And we need to start rolling back "commerce", not "repairing" it. Dennis is sounding less like a progressive and more like a corporate shill these days.
America and the world has unlimited energy (see Schauberger, Tesla, Reich, etc...), so it's a matter of how we use/share/transform energy.
"We should be mobilizing our nation now...": Mr. Kucinich is correct with this beginning of his statement, but everything after it is the dangerous and poisonous tripe of election cycle spin (see Rahm Emmanuel with Charlie Rose).
We would be much better off to use our energy to call a cease fire, at least, to the Middle East Oil War and focus our energy at sopping up, collecting and plugging the oil and leak.
No: we did not need uranium weapons to add to the human catastrophe of carrying out the assault in the Middle East, so Hunt, Shell and Exxon could sign their oil contracts, and we do not need to add to the catastrophe in the Gulf by using nuclear weapons there.
Yes: we would be best served to mobilize our nation now...to cease the oil war fire in the Middle East and to focus the world's resources for containing and cleaning up the catastrophe spewing from the Gulf of Mexico.
