CREW and Open Government Advocates Voice Support for Removing Restrictions on the FOIA

WASHINGTON - April 13 - Yesterday, CREW and 24 government transparency groups sent a letter to the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, voicing support for removing restrictions on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) from the Intelligence Reauthorization Act of 2010. The Senate recently voted to remove a provision exempting terrorist identity information from the FOIA, a provision CREW and the other groups agree is unnecessary, overbroad and unwise.

The exemption must not be included in the final House and Senate conferenced bill.
