UPDATE: Time Change - Oral Arguments TOMORROW For Release Of Documents Related To Bush Torture Program

WASHINGTON - March 23 - Attorneys representing the American Civil Liberties Union will appear in district court Wednesday for arguments calling for the release of detainees’ names that were redacted from the memos issued by the Bush administration’s Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) that attempted to provide the legal justification for torture. The ACLU will also argue for the release of CIA documents that describe the contents of 92 destroyed videotapes of the interrogation of detainees.

The redacted 2005 “torture memos” from the OLC’s Steven Bradbury to CIA General Counsel John Rizzo were obtained through an ACLU Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit. The ACLU also obtained an index of CIA documents related to the destruction of the tapes in November.

WHERE: Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse
500 Pearl St.
