Military Families to Obama: Bring All Our Troops Home Now!

Nationwide - January 27 - Members of military Families Speak Out, a national organization of over 4,000 families with loved ones in the military, including those with loved ones currently serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, soon to be deployed or re-deploy, and those whose loved ones have died as a result of the wars, are available for interview to discuss their reactions to President Obama's first State of the Union Address.

While the President is likely to focus on domestic issues, military families' concerns include the continuing and daily toll of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. President Obama's escalation of the war in Afghanistan and continuation of the war in Iraq have cost military families and our loved ones dearly, while siphoning money away from numerous domestic needs.

Military Families Speak Out members Larry and Judy Syverson, of Richmond Virginia, said:

"We are the parents of three active duty sons. Our oldest son, Branden, is in Afghanistan with the Second Infantry (our family's sixth deployment in these wars). We are disheartened by Obama's foreign policy. He has extended the timeline for withdrawal from Iraq and has escalated the war in Afghanistan. In poll after poll, the American people have repeatedly stated they want these wars to end. President Obama should honor the American people's wishes and end both wars and bring our troops home now."

To arrange an interview with a member of Military Families Speak Out or Gold Star Families Speak Out (MFSO's national chapter of families whose loved ones died as a result of the wars), please contact Deborah Forter, national director of Military Families Speak Out at 617-983-0710 or press@mfso.org

###
Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) is an organization of people opposed to the war in Iraq who have relatives or loved ones who are currently in the military or who have served in the military since the buildup to the Iraq war in the fall of 2002. Formed by two families in November of 2002, we have contacts with military families throughout the United States, and in other countries around the world. Our membership currently includes over 3,400 military families, with new families joining daily.
