Early Bipartisan Support for Privileged Resolution to End War in Afghanistan
Kucinich Announces 12 New Co-sponsors
WASHINGTON - December 15 - Congressman
Kucinich (D-OH) today announced a quick bipartisan response to his call
to introduce a privileged resolution to end the war in Afghanistan.
The proposed legislation already has 12 cosponsors. The privileged
resolution will require debate in the House of Representatives within
15 calendar days of its introduction.
“At
a time when 15 million people are unemployed we cannot continue
spending hundreds of billions of dollars on disastrous wars. My
resolution will force a debate and vote on the war in Afghanistan.
Congress must reassert its constitutional authority to start and end
wars,” said Kucinich.
“It is important that we debate the constitutionality of this question,” added Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC).
Kucinich announced the following cosponsors:
Representatives
John Conyers, Jr.; (D-MI); Ron E. Paul (R-TX); Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD);
Bob Filner (D-CA); Walter Jones, Jr. (R-NC); Lynn Woolsey (D-CA);
Edward Whitfield (R-KY); Michael Capuano (D-MA); Timothy V. Johnson
(R-IL); Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ); Eric Massa (D-NY); and Alan Grayson
(D-FL).
A similar resolution regarding Pakistan will be introduced at a later date.

Show AllThe boots are on the tarmac; time is running out!
Thank God for Kucinich!
The "War" is illegal for many reasons, but primarily because it's unconstitutional. Three of the best ideas that the framers of the constitution ever had were
1. Freedom of Speach
2. Seperation of Church and state
3. Congress has the power to declare war.
After WW2, presidents have circumvented both congress and the United Nations by not using the word "war". Instead we usually use the phrase "Police Action".
Since the president has lied to the congress in instigating the wars with Mexico, Spain, Vietnam, Iraq and Afganistan, among others, isn't it about time to remind congress and the Supreme Court of the constitution when it comes to the president declaring an undeclared war?
I thought we learned this from Vietnam? How fast we forget!
i can't believe the spineles democrats. al qaeda has left afghanistan for parts unknown, and the taliban leadership have made it known that they are willing to sign a treaty that they will not allow al qaeda into their ranks. do you really think that the taliban was in on 9/11? is there any proof of it anywhere? we helped the taliban whip up on the russians, and now we are on the side of the northern alliance, which gave a great deal of assistance to the russians, who tried to hunt down and kill all the taliban they could find. why don't we take the taliban at their word, sign a treaty, and then enforce it, if necessary? that would seem the sensible thing to do.
Look at the co-sponsors to Dennis Kucinich's proposal. 5 out of the 12 are Republican so far.
No one can deny Dennis Kucinich's effectiveness and influence in Congress and yes, as a Democrat.
It was the lies of the Bush regime and the greed for oil that put our troops in the Middle East. Bush SR. built up the Taliban with weapons, and funded them money for his agenda. He played the friends part thinking bin Laden would allow Bush JR. to put in the oil pipe line, but was denied, then came our --Reichstag--, and Bush Jr. stirred the Taliban up,
If the Aghans were guilty why the sudden desire to invade Iraq who was not a threat? Gates and McChrysle will find a way to keep the war going, or use HINI as genocide, but one way or another the big oil companies that the Bush/Chaney's are a part of , will conquer.
