Kucinich: The War Is a Threat to Our National Security
WASHINGTON - December 3 - Following a speech on the Floor of the House of Representative, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today made the following statement:
"America is in the fight of its life and that fight is not in Afghanistan -- its here. We are deeply in debt. Our GDP is down. Our manufacturing is down. Our savings are down. The value of the dollar is down. Our trade deficit is up. Business failures are up. Bankruptcies are up.
"The war is a threat to our national security. We'll spend over one $100 billion next year to bomb a nation of poor people while we reenergize the Taliban, destabilize Pakistan, deplete our army and put more of our soldiers' lives on the line. Meanwhile, back here in the USA, 15 million people are out of work. People are losing their jobs, their health care, their savings, their investments, and their retirement security. $13 trillion in bailouts for Wall Street, trillions for war; when are we going to start taking care of things here at home?"

Show AllI firmly believe that Congressman Dennis Kucinich is the only person inside the DC Beltway with any goddamn sense at all.
I only hope he stays away from the trap of big $$ donors and continues to speak truth to the scumbag power elite of DC.
Anyone who believes this country can continue down this slippery slope to hell never got beyond Dick and Jane and the 1st grade.
Dennis is right. But he hasn't gone far enough. He can't go far enough because nobody can turn around what the big corporations want and what they are currently doing. Big corporations includes the munitions companies. The big corporations want to "bring down" the USA for one very good reason: they cannot control a people who believe they are entitled to Constitutional and Bill of Rights laws and rules of order.
The huge corporations, the ones who have dismantled antitrust laws regarding monopalies, do not want a thinking populations. They want a population quite content with minimum wages (see WalMart for the current version), sucking beer in front of a TV ill with diabetes because of very poor diets and NO encouragement to exercise. This ill-educated population will be happy to send their sons and daughters to war because, being good obedient kids, they will send some money home to "help out" so the parents really don't have to work to make do.
We are so near the end of our rope in USA I think we shall see the end within 10 years if not very much sooner. Dennis can do nothing about this. See Economyincrises.com for further disturbing details.
Lest I forget: 1) the corporations currently get their way by controlling the lobbyits they hire to control the Senators and Representatives...therefore controlling the votes and 2) they want such a docile population so the uber corps can hire them (i.e. us) at minimum or less wages and yet make more money...so the very top can live as kings anywhere on earth and we will live as wretched slaves in thatch huts, pulling water from contaminated wells...where there is water, that is, not be utilized for gas corn or genetically modified foods.
It is a fascist state we now have. No questions about it.
Lightsout,
You forget Dr. Ron Paul. :)
