Response to News Obama Will Go to Copenhagen
WASHINGTON - November 25 - Friends of the Earth President Erich Pica had the
following response to news that U.S. President Barack Obama will travel
to Copenhagen in December to participate in international climate
negotiations:
"Solving the climate crisis requires leadership from the United States,
but thus far, the Obama administration has pushed for a weak and unfair
agreement. The President needs to do more than just show up; he must
ensure that the United States promotes real solutions, including
stronger emissions reduction targets and funding for developing
countries to deal with climate impacts and transition to clean energy
economies."

Show AllIt does not matter if he goes or not. Developed countries want undeveloped countries to slow carbon emissions. Undeveloped countries want funding from the rich countries (US?) to be more eco-friendly in their growth.
Cap and trade will kill us in the world economy. It's like two enemies who try to agree to put down their guns at the same time. All they are really looking for is a way to get ahead. The countries looking to us for leadership just want to break down the divide between the economies of the countries. Not a good deal for us. The US can do good things and be a beacon of light for freedom around the world. However, we cannot do this if we financially run ourselves into the ground. We will have great hope, but no ability to actually do anything.
