Beck Denigrates Yom Kippur
"Yom Kippur is a day of atonement, prayer and fasting," Ari Rabin-Havt of Media Matters said. "Glenn Beck's attempt to politicize this holiest of days with his far right agenda is not only disgusting, but shows a profound disrespect for the Jewish people."

BECK: By the way, I just thought I would put this out there, and what you do with it is your own business. But, this weekend, I put out a tweet on Twitter that September 28th is the Day of Atonement for the Jewish faith, and I thought it would be a good day for all of us to fast and pray, you know. And I got this idea from Thomas Jefferson. After they put together the Continental Congress, the first thing they did was put together a day -- a national day of fast and prayer, and I thought the Day of Atonement would be a good day to do it.

Show AllWhy do people insist on pointing out what this shmegegge has to say. He's getting more than his share of free (though undeserved) publicity.
Truth_Forward, were he using his own resources for this, it would be fine to simply ignore him. However, Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, Savage and the rest of far right hate radio are using PUBLICALLY OWNED airwaves to spread their poison. Licenses and spectrum space worth billions is being given away to a handful of corporations, with the result that over 90% of political discussion on talk radio is conservative. I live in a city of less than 100,000 and on my lunch break can turn on the radio and hear 4 stations attacking Obama and "liberals" while to hear from the other side one has to seek out the local community station for an hour a day of "Democracy Now!"
We need to let our representatives know this is unacceptable, and demand the return of Fairness Doctrine. The airwaves belong to the people, like our roads. Would you accept your interstate highway having a sign that says "Republicans Only" on the exits?
It is very funny for jewish folks to freak out when people just comment some stupid comment (coming from beck) about Israel. But yet they fail to see that Israel is an APARTHEID state; and have made a people (The Palestinians) live like animals for decades. Day of atonement???? My ASS.
