ACLU To Testify Wednesday On Patriot Act Abuses

WASHINGTON - September 8 - The American Civil Liberties Union will testify on abuses of the USA Patriot Act before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Three provisions of the Act – a roving wiretap provision, the John Doe surveillance provision and Section 215, which expanded intelligence records searches – are up for renewal this year and will expire on December 31 if Congress does not take action. The ACLU is seeking comprehensive reform of the Act and is also urging Congress to bring all surveillance laws expanded in recent years back in line with the Constitution.

A hearing before a House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties on the USA Patriot Act.

WHO:
Michael German, ACLU National Security Policy Counsel and former FBI Special Agent, will testify.
