Live Web Chat to Explore Ramifications of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission

WASHINGTON - September 2 - The Center for Responsive Politics will host a live Web chat at noon Thursday, September 3, exploring the U.S. Supreme Court case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, which could significantly change federal election law.

The chat will take place on the Center's website, OpenSecrets.org. The public, press and bloggers are invited to participate and pose questions to the Center's panel of experts and reporters. On Thursday, view the chat at this link.

Center Executive Director Sheila Krumholz, Communications Director Dave Levinthal and Capital Eye reporters Lindsay Renick Mayer and Michael Beckel will participate on the chat panel. They will be joined by Paul S. Ryan, an attorney with the Campaign Legal Center.

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission will in part explore whether to legalize independent political expenditures by corporations and unions. Read the Center's recent Capital Eye coverage of the case below:
