House Bill Announced Today To Ban Workplace Discrimination Based On Gender Or Sexual Orientation
ENDA Bill Would Be First-Ever Federal Law Of Its Kind
WASHINGTON - June 24 - Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) announced the introduction of a bill today that would make workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity illegal. As a long time defender of the civil rights and civil liberties of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, the American Civil Liberties Union urges Congress to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). If the group of bipartisan co-sponsors, including the Chairmen of the Judiciary and Education and Labor Committees successfully pass this legislation, it would become the first-ever ban on employment discrimination of LBGT people.

Show AllLet's get something straight.. I'm not. I make no secret of who I am as a human being. However, I'm no flamer. If you saw me on the street or even in a professional setting I am a very handsome, very masculine guy. We are beyond the point where I should have to disguise the way I speak about who I hang out with or what I did on my weekends just so I can keep my job. I have a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. These idiotic policies allowing gays/lesbians/transgenders to be fired have got to go (they presently exist in 31 states in the USA if you are gay and 39 if you are transgender (or your boss thinks you are... yeah you read that right ... mere suspicion)) ... and the sick thing is it is completely legal. While as percentage of the population we are a minority -- we are a very talented, very powerful minority. Just because we love differently gives no one the right to treat us as less than human.
Repeal DOMA.
Repeal DADT.
End discrimination once and for all.
