CREW Files FOIA Request With Secret Service for Records of Health Care Execs’ White House Visits
WASHINGTON - June 22 - Today CREW filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Secret Service seeking records of visits to the White House by top health care executives. CREW seeks to learn the degree of influence these executives have had, or attempted to have, on the president and his administration in formulating the administration's health care policy. CREW also sought expedition of its request in light of the public's need to weigh in on an issue of enormous economic and social impact. Noting the Obama administration's position that the requested records are presidential records not subject to the FOIA, an issue on which the courts have held to the contrary, CREW requested alternatively that the Secret Service make a discretionary release of the requested White House visitor logs.

Show AllThank you, CREW. Transparency sure didn't last long in this administration.
The health care profiteers have had massive influence in this "reform" process. They have seats at all the forums, meetings, and access to the Oval Office, while physicians, patients, and the people who will be most harmed by bad decisions have no say.
Single-payer advocates have been actively suppressed, arrested, and certainly paid no heed - we are pariahs even though our legislation is popular (H.R. 676 and S 703), affordable to individuals and the government, will provide universal health care fairly (no tier system) and will be simple and accessible; it will also allow patients to choose their own doctors and hospitals and undergo care without outside interference- without ANY rationing of health care as we have now. Also, there will be no added anxiety that insurance will be rescinded in the event of serious illness; a fine old insurance company tradition.
We really do need to take our government back - and not continue to be trampled on.
What is shaping up in the name of "reform" is actually a massive bailout of the health industry profiteers. We, individually and as a nation, cannot afford it.
Once again, thank you CREW.
