More than 100 Amnesty International members and other participants will join together in a silent vigil to show their concern over the violent crackdown on civil rights in Iran, which has included the killing of several protestors and students, brutal attacks on university dorms, the arrest of more than a hundred activists, as well as the closing of independent newspapers and news and social networking websites.
At the event, activists will collect signatures for a petition calling for 1) an investigation into the violent crackdown on protesters, students and activists, 2) the immediate and unconditional release of those wrongfully detained and 3) the end of restrictions on the right to freedom of expression, information and assembly.
