Made in America – War
WASHINGTON - June 16 - Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today made the following statement against the war supplemental on the House floor:
"We are destroying our nation's moral and fiscal integrity with this war supplemental. Instead of ending wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan now by appropriating only enough money to bring our troops home, Congress abdicates its constitutional authority, defers to the president, and asks for a report. That's right, all we are asking for is a report on when the president will end the war.
"There is also money for the IMF, presumably to bail out private European banks. Billions for the IMF so they can force low and middle income nations to cut jobs, wages, health care and retirement security, just like corporate America does to our constituents.
"And there's money to incentivize the purchase of more cars, not necessarily from U.S. manufacturers because a ‘Buy America' mandate was not allowed.
"Another $106 billion dollars and all we get is a lousy war. Pretty soon that is going to be about the only thing made in America - war.

Show Allno wonder the major networks don't allow Dennis on the podium during presidential campaigns, he tells the truth and would he have his way how the industrial military complex would go ahurting. this country has a defense budget that is as large as the rest of the world: it deserves it too, since united states citizens only love their own country and are afraid of every body outside it.
I have voted for Dennis as well, every time he was on a ballot. I met him at a political event in Normal Illinois a couple of years ago at Illinois State Univ. Everyone expected a typical rally, but when he came out to speak, he was soft spoken, mild, intelligent....it threw everyone at first. By the time he finished speaking people were roaring for him!!! He is truly a blessing in this world. It broke my heart (and most of my hope for this country) when he was side lined so badly when he was running for President. He would have healed this country. But of course the powers that be only tolerate him. They don't want to heal this country. If he was not in the Democratic Party, he would not have a voice at all. He is not independently wealthy like many in politics. So at least we hear a sane voice every once in awhile. He is honest and real....very alien to the usual political beast. He truly wants to make a difference and do what's right. He must be getting very depressed and tired!
The Corporate powers in this country rule. They want a leveled out America....that is, with the rest of the Third World. No more unions getting in their way. No more protests. No more middle class. They want slaves, desperate for a dime.....for scarce food and shelter. Welcome to hell people! We have allowed the MIC, the Federal Reserve, the too Big Banks, the too Big Corporations, to take us over in the name of $$$ for all! Right!! How has that worked out? We are in the midst of Shock Doctrine elite take over. We do not live in a Democracy. We live in a Corporate/Fascist military state.
I've voted for Dennis every chance I've had, but then, I'm a veteran and a patriot, and concern for the majority of us and for the principles of the country do not resonate with government of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich.
Congressman Kucinich is one of the few good people in America. I will vote for him for president if he runs in 2012. That is, of course, if the elections aren't cancelled. The lack of democracy is getting more and more obvious.
One of Dennis' REFORMS is a DEPARTMENT OF PEACE.
wanderer what planet are you on? dennis was one of the few dems to even call for impeachment. you must be a right wing plant! get your facts together! i saw noam
chomsky speak he doesn't seem to think we are going to make it as a species. elite
domination and continual wars and the environment will do us in.now ain't that
something to look forward to!
Not forever--eventually there will be a reckoning (read Chris Hedges) and we will be brought to our knees-- and we will deserve it.
I applaud Mr.Kucinich, once again he represents us (we the people) as the voice of reason.
It's a damn shame when the media (IE..NBC, ABC, CNN) and their talking heads (IE..Chuck Todd, Ted Koppel, etc) can manipulate a presidential campaign and debates by reporting who they deem a "viable candidate". Mr.Kucinich was the most progressive choice we had (second only to Nader), only to be dismissed by media hype.
It's difficult to watch the house & senate on CSPAN as they conduct their dog & pony show. Most of the reps are such blowhards and just waste time. There are so many issues that demand immediate attention and we don't have the time to waste.
At least Mr.Kucinch still fights the good fight for us.
If there is one message they should understand it's that the people of Iraq and Afghanistan do NOT want us there. We should withdraw immediately and return only to back up UN forces. Cut the funding to the pentagon and stop building bases that pursue an indefinite occupation.
Support the troops and bring 'em home.

Dennis, I love the work you are doing, but I can't stand your party.
PS. Please, please renounce your ties to the DEMS, they are using your wonderful ideas to confuse the naive American voter instead of trying to enact them.
Actually, he lost me when he was against impeachment, calling it a sideshow.
BUT... he's one of the best of the Democrats. But that's a pretty low bar.
