Judge Blocks Loaded, Concealed Guns in Parks
Statement by NPCA Associate Director for Park Use Bryan Faehner
WASHINGTON - March 20 - "The National Parks Conservation Association is relieved that the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia yesterday issued an injunction against enforcing a Department of Interior rule that allowed loaded and concealed guns in national parks.
"This ruling by Judge Kollar-Kotelly validates the concerns of Americans across the country, every living former director of the National Park Service, ranger organizations, and retired park superintendents -all of whom opposed this eleventh-hour change under the Bush Administration.
"This decision will help ensure national parks remain one of the safest places for American families and wildlife."

Show AllHow exactly does the right of self defense stop on Federal land? Federal land that is, I must remind you, supported by our tax money. Keep in mind that crimes DO occur on Federal land and that the NPS police/park rangers, while dedicated, can't be everywhere or respond as adequately as a true emergency situation would dictate.
Of COURSE this ruling happened. I expected as much: bowing to the halfwitted whims of every PAC is standard operating procedure for the courts and our legislature. These hysterical groups have but one agenda - to instill irrational fear in Americans until they themselves feel a threat - no matter how unrealistic that threat may be.
This is a sad day - I hope the law is widely disobeyed.
