Single Payer Advocates Launch New Health Care Alliance
Leading Labor Groups, Community Organizations, Student Organizations and Religious Organizations Join Together to Announce Major New Campaign
WASHINGTON - January 28 - An alliance of major organizations including labor unions, large community-based membership groups, religious organizations, nurses, doctors, students and activists will launch The Leadership Conference for Guaranteed Health Care on Wednesday, January 28.
The member organizations lay claim to a membership base of more than 20 million people.
The Leadership Conference for Guaranteed Health Care believes that high-quality health care is a right of all people and should be provided equitably as a public service. A single payer national health program would eliminate the wasteful role played by private health insurance companies and as a result is the most cost-effective and efficient way to achieve health care for all in the U.S.

Show AllActually the best type system would be socialized medicine, not single payer insurance. There is a big difference. Socialized medicine means that the government actually runs the health system, usually with local boards of directors representing workers, patients/consumers and local government. It is the least expensive and most comprehensive system. England, France, Cuba and other countries use this system. Single payer still leaves the corrupt capitalist run system in which the equipment/supply manufactures, doctors and other support personnel remain in charge. Top prices are paid and patients have no say. The system proposed by Obama only makes things worse in terms of cost and we have to do everything possible to prevent it being sold to the American public as the best we can do.
