CODEPINK Celebrates Early Christmas with Congress

Sets up Christmas tree with Presents Galore for Wall Street, Sheep Farmers and many more!

WASHINGTON

In the face of the second House vote on the biggest
give-away of our tax dollars in our nation's history, CODEPINK will set
up a Christmas tree outside Congress, with ornaments and gifts
representing the $700 billion bailout, plus $150 billion in Senate
giveaways for everything from sheep and arrows to bicycles and sludge.

WHEN: 11:30 a.m. Friday., Oct. 3

WHERE: Outside Cannon Office Building, Independence and New Jersey Ave., Washington DC

"Congress is indeed very generous, giving extravagant gifts to all its
friends," said CODEPINK cofounder Medea Benjamin. "Of course, it's easy
to be generous with other people's money."

Members of Congress will on hand to trim the tree. President Bush will
make an appearance to light the lights. And a very merry Treasury
Secretary Hank Paulson will be there to receive the people's money.

CODEPINK is a women-led grassroots organization working to end U.S. wars and militarism, support peace and human rights initiatives, and redirect our tax dollars into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming programs.
