WASHINGTON - August 13 - Veterans For Peace, a national organization comprised of over 7500 members, will hold it's National Convention in Bloomington, MN August 27-31, 2008. The theme of the Convention is "Peace, Liberty, and Justice for All".
When: August 27-31, 2008
Who: Over 500 members of Veterans For Peace, Military Families Speak Out, Gold Star Families for Peace, and Iraq Veterans Against the War, as well as many recognized experts on foreign and domestic policy and veterans affairs.
What: Veterans For Peace will hold their Annual Convention and Business Meeting where strategies for abolishing war as an instrument of foreign policy will be discussed and developed. There will be two days of workshops examining everything from causes and costs of war to the care and treatment of veterans. A SPEAK OUT, to which the PUBLIC IS INVITED, will feature well known local figures who will authoritatively address the burning issues of the day. There will also be a Sunset Supper on Nicollet Island and a banquet, again featuring highly qualified and effective speakers. The weekend will finish up with a '24 Hour Fast and Reflection for Peace.' Some individuals will stay in Minneapolis for the demonstrations against the RNC.

Founded in 1985, Veterans For Peace is a national organization of men and women veterans of all eras and duty stations spanning the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), World War II, the Korean, Vietnam, Gulf and current Iraq wars as well as other conflicts cold or hot.
