Big Campaign Push Proceeds to Override President’s Veto on Children’s Health Care

September 28 - House passage and the Senate’s vote to close debate mean that the children’s health bill is likely to be adopted tonight. The following is the statement of Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA:

“The large bipartisan votes in the Senate and the House for extending health coverage to millions of our nation’s children show how strongly the American public feels about the importance of this legislation.

“Now that this debate moves toward a possible Presidential veto, we plan to make sure the public knows who supported and who opposed children’s health coverage.

“We expect that this campaign will help to ensure that the children’s health bill is ultimately enacted into law.”

Families USA is the national organization for health care consumers. It is nonprofit and nonpartisan and advocates for high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans.
