Amnesty International Holds Vigil to Remember the Disappeared
Activists Gather in D.C. on August 29 to Mark Day of the Disappeared

WASHINGTON - August 28 - Amnesty International
members and local activists will hold a vigil to remember the disappeared
in Dupont Circle Park at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29 -- the eve of the
International Day of the Disappeared.
August 30, the International Day of the Disappeared, is observed each
year by Amnesty International and other activists worldwide in remembrance
of the disappeared and their relatives.
Amnesty International demands that disappeared persons be released,
charged with a recognizable crime, and given a fair trial if still in
custody. The organization seeks to bring those responsible for enforced
disappearances to justice.
