WASHINGTON - April 25 - The SavetheInternet.com Coalition -- a grassroots alliance of hundreds of groups from across the political spectrum, thousands of bloggers, and millions of everyday people concerned about the future of the Internet -- marks it first anniversary this week.
After leading the effort to stop dangerous changes to the nation's telecommunications laws last year, SavetheInternet.com is ramping up its campaign to reinstate Net Neutrality -- the fundamental principle that prevents big phone and cable companies from discriminating against Web sites and services.
The SavetheInternet.com Coalition, which is coordinated by the nonpartisan media reform group Free Press, will kick off its second year with a conference call briefing for reporters. This will include a review of progress over the past year, an update on local grassroots activism, and news on the plan to push Net Neutrality in the year ahead.
