MoveOn Calls on Congress to Stop Escalation into Iran
Bill Would Deny Money for Military Operations in Iran
without Congressional Consent

WASHINGTON, DC - March 7 - MoveOn will deliver more than 200,000 MoveOn petitions signed by members urging Congress to support a bill that would discourage military escalation into Iran. The bill, introduced Monday by Senator Jim Webb (VA), would prohibit the President from spending money for military operations in Iran without the consent of Congress.

“We are fighting an unwinnable war in Iraq. Now, the President is moving us closer to a disastrous attack on Iran. Experts agree that military action won’t improve the situation in Iran. Escalation is the wrong way to protect our troops and protect our country,” said Ilyse Hogue, Campaign Director, MoveOn.org Political Action.
