Military Families Travel from 31 States to Participate in January 27th March on Washington
Families Will Also Visit Senators and Members of Congress
 

WASHINGTON - January 25 - Over 150 military families, members of Military Families Speak Out, are traveling to Washington, D.C. from 31 states to join Saturday’s national march and rally organized by United for Peace and Justice. Military families will be calling on Congress to vote against the upcoming appropriation request that would allow the war in Iraq to continue. Military Families Speak Out (MFSO), an organization of over 3,200 military families who are opposed to the war in Iraq, is the largest organization of military families opposing a war in the history of the United States.

Military families attending the march and rally on January 27th will be traveling to Washington from Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia, and will also include MFSO members from Washington, D.C.

WHAT:Press availability for short and in-depth interviews prior to rally and march

WHERE:Military and Gold Star Families/Veterans/Active Duty contingent, located between Madison and Jefferson near 3rd Street, close to the rally stage on the National Mall.

WHEN:Saturday, January 27th from 10am – 1pm

VISUALS:Military families with banners, posters, photos of loved ones

MFSO members who are available for interview include families with loved ones currently in Iraq (including those who have had tours of duty extended); those with loved ones who are soon to deploy/re-deploy; those whose loved ones have returned, many who are suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; as well as over 20 Gold Star families (members of MFSO's chapter Gold Star Families Speak Out) whose loved ones died as a result of the war in Iraq (including those killed in action, those killed by “friendly fire” as well as several families whose loved ones returned from Iraq and took their own lives).

On Friday, January 26 and Monday, January 29 MFSO members will be visiting Congressional Offices to tell Senators and Members of Congress to Support Our Troops by De-Funding the War, Bring Our Troops Home Now and Take Care of Them When They Get Here.
